We partner with other U.S. government agencies, foreign governments, international organizations, and U.S. stakeholders to remove trade barriers, negotiate and enforce free trade agreements, and establish international trade rules and standards that are transparent and predictable.

On May 12, the United States and the People’s Republic of China jointly announced a reduction of Chinese tariffs related to the series of original tariff announcements dated April 4, April 9, and April 11 that had increased rates by 125 percent on top of existing tariffs and retaliatory tariffs.

Canada: Temporary Retaliatory Tariff Relief for Inputs Used in Food Manufacturing
The federal government announced a set of relief measures for Canadian businesses impacted by tariffs with the United States, including the temporary remission of surtaxes applied on U.S. goods from Canada’s retaliatory list, provided these goods are used as inputs in food and beverage manufacturing, processing, and packaging.
